Belmonte, Sotto, Moreno named top-performing mayors in NCR anew -- survey


Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte received the highest approval rating among Metro Manila mayors anew in a recent survey.

The independent, non-commissioned survey conducted by RP-Mission and Development Foundation Inc.(RPMDinc) showed that Belmonte obtained an approval rating of 89 percent.

In March, 2021, Belmonte also topped RPMDinc’s survey on top-performing mayors in the National Capital Region with 86 percent.

Pasig City Mayor Victor Maria Regis “Vico” Sotto (86 percent) and Manila Mayor Franciso “Isko Moreno” Domagoso (83 percent) also maintained their ranks as the second and third top-performing mayors in the NCR.

Following the top three mayors were:

- Valenzuela City Mayor Rex Gatchalian (77%)

- Marikina City Mayor Marcy Teodoro (76%)

- Navotas City Mayor Toby Tiangco (73%)

- Makati City Mayor Abigail Binay (70%)

- Taguig City Mayor Lino Cayetano (62%)

- Mandaluyong City Mayor Carmelita Abalos (60%)

- San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora (56%)

- Muntinlupa City Mayor Jaime Fresnedi (53%)

- Caloocan City Mayor Oscar Malapitan (51%)

- Pateros Mayor Miguel Ponce III (50%)

- Paranaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez (46%)

- Malabon City Mayor Antolin Oreta (37%)

- Pasay City Mayor Imelda Rubiano (35%)

The survey also asked respondents if they will vote for their mayors if they will run for re-election.

Sotto got the highest rating among mayors who are re-electionists with 83 percent.

The Pasig mayor was followed by Belmonte (80%), Moreno (78%), Teodoro (70%), Binay (67%), Tiangco, (65%), Cayetano (57%), and Abalos (56%).

RPMDinc’s survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews with 3,500 respondents from May 20 to May 30, 2021.

The respondents were aged 18 to 70, registered voters, and residents of Metro Manila.

“They were randomly chosen and the number of respondents per city was distributed proportionally based on official population data,” RPMDinc said.
