DAGUPAN CITY – The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council 1 (RDRRMC) raised its alert status from Blue to Red, in anticipation of Tropical Storm Dante which could pass through the region.
The elevation of the alert status was ordered by Eugene Cabrera, Chairperson of the RDRRMC1 and Regional Director of the Office of Civil Defense, through Memorandum No. 23 s. 2021.
The memorandum was released after the PAGASA bulletin, stating that Dante is expected to be in the vicinity of San Carlos City in Pangasinan at 5 a.m. on June 3, Thursday.
With this, Cabrera urged local DRRM councils to conduct pre-emptive measures, and the implementation of ‘No sail policy’.
“The RDRRMC-1 strongly recommends the conduct of preemptive evacuation specially in communities identified as highly vulnerable to storm surges, flooding, and landslides, taking into consideration the observance of minimum health protocols for Covid-19”, the memorandum said.
