Get to know Filipino Chef Johanne Siy, WGA's Female Chef of the Year

Chef Johanne Siy

Filipino chef Johanne Siy is honored by World Gourmet Awards, an accolade that celebrates the efforts of key players in Singapore’s hospitality industry who deliver the best fine dining experiences, as Female Chef of the Year.

Currently based in Singapore, Chef Johanne is the head chef of Lolla in Ann Siang Hill. Her love for food has its roots back to Dagupan, where she grew up with Filipino comfort cuisine.

Known for her excellent culinary skills in both daily kitchen operations, Chef Johanne has set high standards for excellence throughout her career.

Mindful, produce-driven, and reflective of her culinary upbringing in modern European fine-dining is just a few ways to describe Johanne’s style of cuisine. Previously a corporate brand-builder, she did a full 180 to follow her passion in the culinary world.

Having found her passion in cooking, she soon left for the Culinary Institute of America and spent years learning from culinary giants Chef Eric Ripert and Chef Daniel Boulud at Le Bernardin.

After exploring kitchens, farms, and forests in Scandinavia, she learned different styles of cuisine and techniques under the tutelage of world-renowned chefs. One of which is her mentor and culinary influence, Chef Andre Chiang at Restaurant Andre in Singapore where Johanne has worked for four years.

In her time at the restaurant, she developed a profound appreciation and deep respect for producers in their unwavering commitment to quality. She champions positivity in the kitchen and knows that it takes passion to contribute to elevating hospitality as an industry overall.
