Torres-Gomez disclosed this when asked in an interview with ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC) about the possibility of her seeking a national post in next year's polls amid surveys listing her as among the top probable senatorial candidates.

"Nothing of what I have or where I am in terms of my life in public service was ever part of a big plan or a great roadmap. I really just move like water," Torres-Gomez told ANC.

"Yes, open but it’s not like it’s part of a grand dream or a grand plan. But I have been a legislator for 11 years, and if I should be given the opportunity, I know I can hit the ground running," she added.

Her husband, actor and Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez was quoted as formally announcing last month that she will run to be the city's next chief executive, while the latter said he may run as Leyte's representative.

In a report by the Manila Bulletin, however, the mayor said his wife is still not discounting the possibility of gunning for a Senate seat.

Torres-Gomez, a member of the administration party Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), was first elected as Leyte's 4th district representative in 2010 after replacing her husband, who was then disqualified by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) due to residency issues.

After being ordered by the Supreme Court to vacate her post for her "invalid" substitution, she ran again for the same post and won in the 2013 elections. She would later be elected to continue serving her district in 2016 and 2019.

Torrez-Gomez is currently on her last term as a congresswoman.
