Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal collectively known as the National Capital Region-plus (NCR-plus) bubble area will remain under the general community quarantine (GCQ) with restrictions until June 15, 2021.
President Duterte made the announcement during his weekly pre-recorded public address late Monday evening.
Other areas under GCQ for the entire month of June are the following:
- Baguio City
- Mountain Province
- Nueva Vizcaya
- Iligan City
- Davao City
- Lanao del Sur
- Cotabato City
Meanwhile, the following areas are still under the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) from June 1 to 15:
- City of Santiago, Isabela
- Puerto Princesa City
- Iloilo City
- Zamboanga City
- Zamboanga Sibugay
- Zamboanga del Sur
- Zamboanga del Norte
- Cagayan de Oro City
- Butuan City
- Agusan del Sur
The rest of the country is under the modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) for the month of June.
Despite the downtrend of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, the Department of Health said over the weekend that it was not keen on placing GCQ areas under looser quarantine restrictions for the month of June.
“We’re not out of the woods kumbaga, kaya ayun yung sasabihin ko kapag nag pulong kami sa Lunes (that’s what I’ll present during our meeting on Monday),” Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said in radio interview.
“Ipapakita ko ang datos na may kataasan pa rin talaga ang mga kaso araw araw (I will present the data that the cases being reported daily are still high),” he added.
To date, the Philippines has reported 1,230,301 COVID-19 cases, 20,966 of whom died while 1,155,045 recovered.
