CEBU CITY – A policeman was killed in an ambush in Barili City, Cebu Saturday, May 29.

Police Master Sgt. Raymond Zozobrado, who survived an attempt on his life three years ago, was shot while driving a motorcycle with a female companion.

The 40-year-old policeman, who was assigned in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental, died on the spot while his companion was wounded and taken to the Barili District Hospital.

Police said the assailants were aboard a Toyota Innova.

The attack happened around 9 a.m. on the national highway in Barangay Dakit.

Investigation was ongoing to determine the motive of the attack and the possible identification of the assailants, police said.

Zozobrado was shot in Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City in April 2018.

In the 2018 incident, the policeman was attacked while driving home after attending the wake of a fellow policeman, who was killed by motorcycle-riding assailants here.

The policeman survived the attack with a bullet wound in the foot.
