An official of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Friday, May 28, urged their field personnel to avail of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) shot.

Comelec Commissioner Antonio Kho issued the call following their inclusion in the A4 priority group of the COVID-19 vaccination program.

"I'm going to use this avenue to convince our people, our election officials to avail it," he said during the Laging Handa forum.

"Our Comelec leadership are currently explaining to our people how they can avail of the vaccines," added Kho.

The poll official said getting vaccinated is necessary as they will need to be protected against the novel virus in doing their mandate.

"We need this, especially now that we are doing voter registration everyday. It is better if we are protected," said Kho.

"We thank the IATF...we petitioned the IATF to consider Comelec officials and employees as one of those part of A4," he added.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque last week said the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) has decided to include frontline employees of the Comelec in the A4 priority group.
