ANTIPOLO CITY -- Congresswoman Resurreccion Acop of the 2nd District of Antipolo City has passed away.
In a Facebook post, the Antipolo City Government announced the passing of Acop.
“Paalam at maraming salamat po...Taos pusong pakikiramay at panalangin sa mga naiwang pamilya at mga kababayan sa ikalawang distrito ng lungsod... (Goodbye and thank you. Heartfelt condolences and prayers to the family and fellow residents in the Second District of the city)”, the post of the Antipolo City Government said.
The family of Acop has not yet issued a statement regarding her demise as of this posting. She is the mother of City Councilor Philip ‘Bong’ Acop, who is also a pediatrician.
Acop was a pediatrician to many residents. She was known to be a very caring and generous doctor of at least two generations of residents in the city.
She was also known as the doctor who was dearly loved by her patients and their family from the indigenous communities in the city’s upland villages because of how she cared for the sick.
Messages of condolences continue to pour in on social media on how the late congresswoman had cared for them and their children during her active years as a pediatrician prior to her becoming a member of the House of Representatives in 2019.
She ran unopposed in the city’s second district replacing her husband, former Congressman Romeo Acop.
