World-class! 13 more Pisay students receive admission offers from top universities abroad


The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic might have turned people’s lives upside down but this did not stop some students from pursuing their dreams.

Despite challenges under distance learning, the Philippine Science High School (PSHS) System could not help but beam with pride as its students continue receive admission offers from prestigious universities abroad.

In a series of Facebook posts on Thursday, May 27, PSHS System congratulated its students for giving pride to the institution through various admission offers coming from the top universities across the globe. “We are proud of you!” it added.

Excellence from the Valley

PSHS announced that five students from the Class 2021-Silaksarinlan of the Philippine Science High School-Cagayan Valley Campus (PSHS-CVC) in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya received various admission offers from prestigious universities abroad.

PSHS congratulated Carl Joshua C. Mamuri for receiving admission offers with scholarship grants from Illinois Institute of Technology for BS Applied Mathematics (Science and Technology Scholarship and International Tuition and Housing Scholarship) and in Webster University also for BS Mathematics with scholarship grant.

Luis Jerard Salum, PSHS said, also received admission offers with scholarship grants from Drexel University for BS Biomedical Engineering (Dean's Scholarship and Drexel Grant) and in Bentley University for BS Actuarial Science (President's Scholarship and Honors Program).

Simon Philip M. Alejandrino, who is also from the same class and campus, received admission offers with scholarship grants abroad particularly from DePauw University for BS Psychology (with scholarship grant), Drexel University for BS Psychology (with Drexel Grant) and Trinity College for BS Psychology.

PSHS noted that Jay Francis Nolledo got admission offers with scholarship grants from Drexel University (A.J. Drexel Scholarship & Drexel Grant) for Engineering Technology; The University of Arizona (Global Wildcat Award) for Physics; and Michigan Technological University for Mechanical Engineering; and Marquette University (Pére Marquette Award) for Mechanical Engineering.

Nolledo also received offers from Milwaukee School of Engineering (International Student Scholarship) for Mechanical Engineering; University of Illinois - Chicago for Mechanical Engineering; Augustana College (Founders Scholarship and Need-Based Grant) for Engineering Physics and Computer Science Minor and in Gustavus Adolphus College (Count Folke Bernadotte Scholarship) for Physics.

Also coming from the same class and campus is Richard Francis T. Agcaoili who received admission offers with scholarship grants from Drexel University for BS Biochemistry (with Drexel Grant) and University of Maryland- Baltimore County for BS Neuroscience (Retriever Academic Award).

Excellence from the Queen City of the South

Four PSHS students hailing from Cebu also received admission offers from top universities abroad, PSHS said.

The students are all members of Class 2021 - Supling of the Philippine Science High School - Central Visayas Campus (PSHS-CVisC) in Argao, Cebu.

PSHS said that Marianne Emmanuelle P. Ceniza received admission offer with scholarship from Jacobs University Bremen (Germany) to take up Medicinal Chemistry and Chemical Biology.

Avi Conrose Therese S. Malana, on the other hand, got admission offer with scholarship from Jacobs University Bremen (Germany) to take up Physics.

Deni Margarette C. Dalman received admission offer with scholarship from Jacobs University Bremen (Germany) to take up Medicinal Chemistry and Chemical Biology.

Last but not the least, Raphael David B. Condor received admission offers from tertiary institutions abroad including University of California, Berkeley (BS Bioengineering); University of Massachusetts Amherst College of Engineering with Chancellor's Award; University of Sydney (BS Biomedical Engineering); King's College London (International Foundation Programme and Mathematics and Physics); and Trinity College Dublin (International Foundation Programme, Engineering, Mathematics, and Science).

Excellence from the South

The PSHS System also congratulated the 89 graduates of the Philippine Science High School - Southern Mindanao Campus (PSHS-SMC).

“We hope and pray for your successful journey as men and women of science, technology, and innovation,” it added.

Four members of Class 2021 (Halcyon) of the PSHS-SMC also received various admission offers abroad.

Jysel Ashley Ayop got admission offers from National Tsing Hua University (Taiwan) to take up Engineering Technology where she was awarded scholarship (tuition fee and stipend); Jacobs University Bremen (Germany) for Industrial Engineering and was awarded with Jacobs At Ease Financial Aid Award; Bentley University (USA) for Actuarial Science; and Rangsit University (Thailand) for Information and Communication Technology

Kaye Richelle Duarte got offers from Hofstra University (USA) for Neuroscience and was Awarded Provost Scholarship and New York University Shanghai (China) for Neuroscience with scholarship covering full tuition and fees.
