The Civil Service Commission (CSC) on Thursday, May 27, mourned the death of former Commissioner Robert "Doc" Santiago Martinez.
Martinez died on Thursday. There were no other immediate details about his passing.
"The Civil Service Commission family joins hands in praying for the repose of the soul of former CSC Commissioner Robert “Doc” Santiago Martinez and for strength for his family in these trying times," it said in a statement.
Martinez was appointed as CSC Commissioner in July 2012 and ended his term in February 2018.
Prior to his appointment as CSC Commissioner, he was the Deputy Administrator for Administration at the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority from 2008 to 2012 and Director for General Services at the Department of Trade and Industry from 2002 to 2008.
He first joined the government as Corporate Secretary and Chief of Human Resource and Development Division of the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions in 1989.
Martinez earned his degree of Bachelor of Arts, Major in Economics from the University of Sto. Tomas and pursued a Bachelor of Laws at the Ateneo de Manila University.
As an advocate of corporate social responsibility, Martinez has received several awards from the Department of Trade and Industry, the Integrated Bar of the Philippines, and the City Government of Malolos, among others.
