Police identified the victim as Roderico Llubit, barangay captain of Barangay 9-A and a resident of Muslim Village. Barangay 9-A is among the 54 barangays under the jurisdiction of Rep. Duterte.
An initial police report revealed that the victim was feeding his cat on the first floor of his house when an unidentified suspect entered the house and shot him – point blank – twice in the face.
The shooter fled to an unknown direction.
Police are currently conducting an investigation and have yet to determine the motive of the incident.
Pulong and wife January, barangay captain of Catalunan Grande, condoled with the family of the victim. They said that anyone who could provide information about the gunman will receive P300,000.
The Davao city government issued a statement Wednesday afternoon strongly condemning the killing of Llubit.
The city called on the government to hasten the investigation and bring the suspect behind the “cruel and cowardly act” to justice.
Llubit is recognized by the city as a dedicated public servant.
