In a statement Tuesday, May 25, the NDRRMC enjoined the public to "duck, cover, and hold" and participate in the virtual earthquake drill which will highlight preparedness in the workplace.

The ceremonial pressing of the alarm button for Second Quarter NSED will start at 9:00 a.m. and can be viewed in a livestream via the Facebook pages of the NDRRMC and the Office of Civil Defense (Civil Defense PH).

Various online activities were also slated for the second quarter NSED including the #BidaAngHanda quiz bee on June 4 and a webinar on earthquake preparedness on June 8.

The #BidaAngHanda challenge video will be launched also to encourage the public to share their earthquake preparedness activities, the NDRRMC added.

Informational materials on NSED will also be released on Civil Defense PH Facebook and Viber Community and NDRRMC for announcements and earthquake preparedness education.

Thousands of netizens joined this year's first quarter virtual NSED last March 11.

The NSED is a major endeavor spearheaded by the OCD to enhance the public's earthquake preparedness through the regular conduct of drills and exercises. The OCD is the implementing arm of the NDRRMC.

However, the COVID-19 pandemic forced the OCD to stage the drills online as evacuation drills and the conduct of scenarios are still suspended to prevent possible COVID-19 exposure among participants.
