“Bayanihan is at the heart of Korea’s assistance for the Filipino people, in particular for those affected by natural disasters or in predicament. Korea is glad to partner with the Red Cross in implementing its various humanitarian assistance efforts in the Philippines,” said Ambassador Kim.

The food truck is equipped with a complete mini-kitchen setup capable of cooking, preparing and serving hot meals for at least 800 people during an eight-hour operation in feeding programs and disaster response operations nationwide.

“We have always been friends with Koreans historically. We thank the Korean Embassy for its continuous humanitarian assistance and trust provided to PRC and we will make sure that this will go directly to the people. We also welcome Ambassador Inchul Kim in his first official partnership engagement with the PRC. Kamsahamnida !” said Gordon.

The PRC currently has 15 food trucks stationed in Metro Manila, Nueva Ecija, Iloilo, Davao City and Bacolod.

The Korean Embassy has been a longtime partner of the PRC in providing humanitarian services in the Philippines including during the Marawi siege in 2017, Mayon Volcano eruption and Typhoon “Ompong” (“Mangkhut”) in 2018, Mindanao earthquakes in 2019, Taal Volcano eruption and Typhoon “Rolly” (“Goni”) in 2020.

The food truck is part of the $200,000 humanitarian assistance by the Korean government to the Philippines through PRC for the victims of the Taal volcano eruption last year.
