Netflix show "Bridgerton" is expanding its universe with its season two already filming and, a bonus, a spinoff series is being cooked by the show's creators.

You've read that correctly, dear readers, as Lady Whistledown would say it. The spinoff series is reportedly to present the origin story of the flamboyant Queen Charlotte. Throughout its first season, the queen has captured the attention of the fans not only because of her royal seat in the show and her regal dresses but also because of her relationship with her husband, the "mad" king.

The Regency period drama spinoff also promises to feature young Lady Danbury, the mentor of the Duke of Hastings, and Violet Bridgerton, the matriarch of the Bridgerton house.

“As we continue to expand the world of ‘Bridgerton,’ we now have the opportunity to devote even more of the Shondaland fold to the Bridgerton-verse,” producer Shonda Rhimes says.

“Many viewers had never known the story of Queen Charlotte before ‘Bridgerton’ brought her to the world, and I’m thrilled this new series will further expand her story and the world of ‘Bridgerton,’” said Bela Bajaria, Netflix’s head of global TV. “Shonda and her team are thoughtfully building out the ‘Bridgerton’ universe so they can keep delivering for the fans with the same quality and style they love. And by planning and prepping all the upcoming seasons now, we also hope to keep up a pace that will keep even the most insatiable viewers totally fulfilled.”

"Bridgerton" is based on Julia Quinn's best-selling novels. The show centers on the Bridgerton family as they navigate through a 19th-century London high society marriage scene that’s filled with rules, scandal, gossip, and, of course, love.
