Yamaha launches new Sniper 155, starting at P114,900

Yamaha Motor Philippines offers riders a more exciting way to get around with the highly-anticipated arrival of the 2021 Yamaha Sniper 155.

The new Sniper 155 was designed to offer an exciting, light and agile, stylish way to get around. The Sniper hopes to offer the best of both worlds offering versatile performance on the race track and the street.

The new Sniper155 was designed to offer a sporty feel with its compact dimensions and design inspired by the YZF-R1. It boasts of a mass-forward silhouette with a short and upward angled rear end. The design also offers a sporty riding posture.

The new design incorporates a low beam LED headlight mounted on the handlebar for better visibility at night. The high beams are built into the body.

Powering the Sniper is an upgraded, liquid-cooled 155cc SOHC 4-valve fuel-injected engine. It’s fed air by a new 4.6-liter air cleaner box. The engine is now equipped with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) plus new Individual Ignition Timing Maps to further maximize the engine’s power. Yamaha has engineered Individual Ignition timing maps for each gear, for low speeds and high speeds, with VVA off and on, in order to optimize performance at a variety of speeds, for better performance at low speeds, while also improving torque at higher speeds. It produces 17.9 PS at 9,500 rpm and 14.4 Nm of torque at 8,000 rpm.

The Sniper also comes with a larger 5.4-liter fuel tank for even more enjoyment.

It’s paired with a revised exhaust pipe and muffler to optimized power output across the entire rpm range, but also reduce noise. To quicken catalyzation in the catalytic converter, it is positioned closer to the tail end of the exhaust pipe inside the muffler to better use the high temperature of the exiting exhaust.

There’s also an Assist and Slipper Clutch (A&S) for its 6-speed transmission to make shifting up and down gears easer and smother.

The rider gets a new negative LCD instrument panel for better visibility. For comfort, there’s a new slip-resistant seat to offer even better grip. The body has also been redesigned to offer a more ergonomic fit to the inner thigh.

Exclusive to the higher-end 155 R model are features like special material and stitching on the seat. A smart key system so that riders no longer need to reach for the key, a 12V power socket to charge devices, and an exclusive 2-piston front brake calipers and a 245 mm disc for even better stopping power.
