BTS wins at 2021 Billboard Music Awards 

K-pop idol group and Grammy nominee BTS have won three awards as of writing at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs).

Ahead of the BBMAs live ceremony, dick clark productions and NBC announced the BBMAs off-air winners. 

BTS won the BBMAs Top Duo/Group, Top Song Sales Artist and Top Social Artist (Fan Voted). BTS are also nominated for Top Selling Song, the winner of which will be announced during the show. 

This is the fifth consecutive year that BTS bagged the BBMAs Top Social Artist award, winning the award in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021. 

“Top Social Artist for five years in a row. Thank you ARMY and BBMAs for such an incredible title” said J-Hope in a video as BTS accepted the award. 

Suga added, “Let’s continue to stay connected as always” and BTS said, “ARMY, we love you.” 

Other nominees for Top Social Artist this year were BLACKPINK, Ariana Grande, SB19 and Seventeen.

This is the second time that BTS won the Top Duo/Group award, winning it first in 2019. Other nominees this year were AC/DC, AJR, Dan + Shay and Maroon 5.

BTS won their first Top Song Sales Artist, edging out Justin Bieber, Megan Thee Stallion, Morgan Wallen and The Weeknd.

On the show, BTS will be making their first performance of their new single “Butter,” which set new records for biggest music video Premiere with over 3.9 million peak concurrent and most watched music video in the first 24 hours of release on YouTube with 108.2 million views.  

The BBMAs will air live on May 23, 8 p.m. ET (May 24, 8 a.m. in the Philippines).
