To avoid overcrowding in the National Capital Region (NCR), the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) has encouraged outbound Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in the provinces to undergo competency assessment on Domestic Work National Certificate (NC) II in the nearest assessment center in their area.
“We are encouraging all our outbound OFWs to take up their competency assessment on Domestic Work NC II at the nearest training institutions in their area. There are available assessment centers nationwide. We assure you that we will accommodate all outbound OFWs who need to be assessed,” TESDA Secretary Isidro Lapeña said in a statement Sunday, May 23.
The agency said TESDA Technology Institutions (TTIs) with accredited assessment centers in Metro Manila are receiving the bulk of applications for Domestic Work assessment compared to those located in the provinces.
There are 34 TTIs nationwide which offer competency assessment on Domestic Work NC II, of which three are in NCR. These are TESDA Training Institute in Navotas, TESDA Women’s Center (TWC), and Pasay-Makati District Training and Assessment Center (PMDTAC) both in Taguig City.
Other regions also offering assessment on Domestic Work NC II are TESDA - Luciano Millan Memorial School of Arts and Trades in Region I; Aparri Polytechnic Institute, Lasam Institute of Technology, Regional Training Center - II (Tuguegarao), Isabela School of Arts and Trades, and Southern Isabela College of Arts and Trades in Region II; and Regional Training Center Central Luzon – Guiguinto, Regional Training Center Central Luzon – Mariveles, Provincial Training Center - Nueva Ecija (Palayan City), and Gonzalo Puyat School of Arts and Trades in Region III.
In Region IV-A, Jacobo Z. Gonzales Memorial School of Arts and Trades and Quezon National Agricultural School offer the assessment while in Region IV-B, only Simeon Suan Vocational and Technical College allow assessment on Domestic Work NC II.
Domestic Work NC II assessment is also offered in San Francisco Institute of Science and Technology in Region V; New Lucena Polytechnic College in Region VI; Regional Training Center - VII (Cebu) in Region VII; Arteche National Agricultural School, Balangiga National Agricultural School, and Samar National School of Arts and Trades in Region VIII.
In Mindanao, Dipolog School of Fisheries in Region IX; Lanao Norte National Agro Industrial School, Regional Training Center -Iligan, and Cagayan De Oro (Bugo) School of Arts and Trades in Region X; Davao National Agricultural School, Carmelo C. De Los Cientos, Sr. National Trade School, Regional Training Center-Korea Philippines Vocational Training Center, Davao, Wangan National Agricultural School, and Davao Oriental Polytechnic Institute (Formerly Lupon School Of Fisheries) in Region XI; and General Santos National School of Arts and Trades in Region XII allow assessment on Domestic Work NC II.
Also, Baguio City School of Arts and Trades and Provincial Training Center – Kalinga in Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) offer assessment on Domestic Work NC II.
To avoid the spread of tue coronavirus disease (COVID-19), Lapeña also encouraged outbound OFWs who need assessment to file their application for assessment and certification online through the TESDA mobile app and TESDA website.
Currently, the TESDA App receives around 50 to 60 applications from Metro Manila and 10 to 15 applications from Region III and Region IV-A. Other regions receive only a few or no applications at all.
“They can visit the www.tesda.gov.ph or download the TESDA App on Google Play or Apple Stores. They will find the 'TESDA Abot Lahat ang OFWs' button from there and just click it and send their application,” Lapeña said.
"If they are already registered, the TESDA provincial or district office will facilitate and process their application and will inform them of the location and schedule of their assessment," he added.
