CamSur town mayor gets vaccine shot in his buttocks

LEGAZPI CITY, Albay – The mayor of Milaor town in Camarines Sur province went viral after photos of his “butt vaccination” were posted on Facebook.

Mayor Anthony “Lahbas” Reyes' photos were shared on different Facebook accounts and pages, which earned praise, while for some, was a butt of joke.

In a telephone interview with Manila Bulletin, Mayor Reyes said he had no choice but to allow the jab to be done via his buttocks.

“Sabi kasi ng doktor, hindi ako pwedeng bakunahan sa braso kasi may tattoo ako sa magkabilaan. So sa pwet na lang (My doctor said I can’t be inoculated through my arms because of my tattoos so they had to do it through my buttocks),” Reyes said.

Mayor Reyes got his first dose of AstraZeneca vaccine Thursday, May 20.

“Magandang bagay yun kasi naka-encourage tayo na magpabakuna ng mga nag-aalinlangan pa. Sa ngayon, wala akong naramdaman, normal lang. Parang wala lang, kaya inaanyayahan ko ang lahat na magpa-bakuna na para matapos na itong pandemyang ito (It’s good we are able to encourage those who remain doubtful. Right now I’m feeling good, normal. I call on all to have themselves vaccinated so this pandemic will end),” the mayor ended.
