FAMOUS: Andrew Gan puts showbiz earnings to business, dream home

Andrew Gan and partner Charlene Kua

Andrew Gan is just in the early stages of his acting career, but he can proudly say that he is putting his hard-earned showbiz money where it really matters: securing his future with a stable business and building his own home.

ReLeaf Massage and Spa in Valenzuela City is Andrew's first baby together with his beautiful partner Charlene Kua.
In our exclusive interview, Andrew revealed that he almost gave up the business during the lockdown in 2020.

“It started in December 2019. Actually, it was my dream talaga to have my own wellness center because stress is an unavoidable reality in life. I want to be an instrument to people na mabawasan yung stress and sakit ng katawan nila. Kasi aside sa relaxation, it also helps us to improve the circulation of our blood. I believe that our greatest wealth is our health. Honestly, sobrang affected kami because of the pandemic. Financially and mentally, dumating din sa point na gusto ko na isuko. Kasi continuous yung rental namin kahit noon. Pero at the end of the day, naisip ko ang mga staff ko. And it does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop. Because once you quit without giving your best, it becomes a habit,” Andrew said. (I really want to give up my business because the rental fees continue even if we don't operate. But I thought about my staff members, so I did not stop).

The “Limited Edition” BL actor said that he is thankful to Charlene for guiding him in managing his finances.

“Sa partner ko, I’ve learned a lot from her. Because of her, mas naging malawak and malalim ako. Everyday akong nagpapasalamat kay Lord for giving me someone like her,” he added. I am thankful for my partner who taught me how to handle finances in business).

Miss Grand International 2020 first runner-up Samantha Bernardo is back!

In her first virtual media conference, Samantha said that there was a tempting offer for her to stay longer in Thailand, but she chose to return to Manila to honor her commitments.

Aside from helping the Binibining Pilipinas pageant this June, Bernardo will firm up her collaboration with Philippine Association of Real Estate Boards, Inc. (PAREB) head Dante Salamat in coaching realtors on financial independence and literacy during critical times. It is an advocacy close to her heart since she lost much of her income during the pandemic.

“It’s no secret na marami rin akong nagastos during the postponement of the Binibining Pilipinas pageant so I worked as an insurance agent,” said Bernardo, who has been part of PAREB seminars. (I spent a lot when Binibining Pilipinas pageant was postponed, so I worked as an insurance agent).

“That’s why I want to help them in managing their investments and transforming adversity to opportunities,” Bernardo said during the Zoom press conference for the 61st anniversary of the PAREB.

For long-term goals, the famous beauty queen is also working her way up as an insurance group manager and a potential career as a realtor. It’s a viable fallback position, she said, now that she has graduated from pageantry. Bernardo also said that she enjoyed her extended stay in Thailand.
