Now it can be revealed: Megastar Sharon Cuneta left for the US to do a comedy movie produced by legendary filmmaker director Steven Spielberg.

However, Sharon failed to be cast in the upcoming flick of Filipino-American stand-up comic Joseph Glenn Herbert, popularly known as Jo Koy, following the delay in her arrival in the US.

This was revealed by popular entertainment broadcaster Cristy Fermin on her radio show "Cristy FERMINute" on Radyo Singko on May 20.

On her radio program, Cristy said that Sharon failed to be a part of the movie because she arrived late in the US.

From Los Angeles, Sharon was expected to proceed to Canada where she was supposed to meet Spielberg and the production crew, Cristy said.

But Cristy said that Sharon's late arrival affected her scheduled meeting with the US director. She added that Sharon's trip to the US was delayed because of the release of a document in the Philippines.

"Hindi po para sa akin ang project dahil nagkaroon ng aberya. Maybe there's another opportunity for me in the future," Sharon told Cristy over a telephone conversation. (The project is not for because there was a snag).

Cristy, one of the close friends of Sharon, asked netizens to stop making fake stories about the megastar's sudden departure for the US.

"Sharon's family know about this movie project but they don't want to discuss it until everything has been finalized," the radio broadcaster said.

In June 2020, Jo Koy revealed that he signed up with Spielberg's company after he saw him comedy special entitled "Coming In Hot."

"It was crazy. My special, Coming in Hot, on Netflix? He watched it, and then brought me in for a meeting. He was a big fan of that special, and then got right to the chase. They were like, ‘Steven wants to make a movie with you. Do you have any ideas?’ I pitched the idea, and they bought it in the room. And here we are," said Jo Koy in an interview with esquiremag.ph last month.

Sharon, 55, is now on vacation in Los Angeles, California.
