Five PBA teams kick off practices in Batangas City

Five PBA teams kicked off the start of full practices and 5-on-5 scrimmages Thursday, May 20 in Batangas City.

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, Magnolia and Terrafirma held their sessions at the Lyceum of the Batangas campus while NorthPort and Phoenix trained at the Batangas City Sports Center.

San Miguel Beer, Rain or Shine, Alaska and Blackwater are also slated to head to the southern part of Luzon which is currently under General Community Quarantine.

The nine PBA squads opt to practice in Batangas City after the Inter-Agency Task Force determined that indoor training is still prohibited in Metro Manila and provinces inside the NCR Plus bubble.

Meralco and TNT are currently in Laoag, Ilocos Norte for a lengthy training camp at the Centennial Arena while NLEX is scheduled to practice at a facility in Clark, Pampanga.

Teams that are training in Batangas City can either stay for a few days or observe the closed-circuit concept which will limit the movement of teams from their homes to practice venues.

Photos provided by the PBA saw Greg Slaughter join his first full practice with NorthPort since being traded from Ginebra in exchange for Christian Standhardinger in early-March.

Calvin Abueva also joined Magnolia’s first full practice session since being acquired from Phoenix last February.
