Yugoslavian wanted for prostitution, human trafficking nabbed in Cebu


CEBU CITY—Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation-Central Visayas (NBI Region 7) arrested a Yugoslavian wanted for prostitution and human trafficking in Compostela, Cebu Wednesday.

The suspect, Steve Hidosan, was arrested on the strength of an arrest warrant issued by Branch 61 of the Regional Trial Court in Angeles City, Pampanga.

Interviewed by reporters, Hidosan he was not aware of the charges that had been filed against him. He said he had been staying in Cebu for the past 10 years.

NBI Region 7 Director Rennan Oliva said the NBI Anti-Organized Crime Division in Manila alerted them of the cases involving the Yugoslavian.

Oliva said Hidosan is facing seven counts of human trafficking cases under Republic Act (RA) 9208 and another seven counts of child abuse under RA 7610.

NBI Region 7 Special Investigator Agapito Geirran said an informant tipped them off that Hidosan was hiding in Compostela.
