Plumber leaps to death in Cebu

CEBU CITY—A 20-year-old plumber allegedly hounded by personal problems leaped to his death from the 19th floor of an unfinished building here Tuesday morning.

Police said the victim is from San Francisco, Camotes Island, Cebu.

The incident happened in a building that is still under construction on 13th Ave. in Barangay Tejero.

Prior to the incident, the man was seen in a pensive mood staring down the building.

A co-worker approached Mapalo and advised him to transfer to a safer area.

The man, however, ran from his co-worker and leaped, police said.

Police Major Edgar Labe, chief of the Waterfront Police Station, said there were no signs of foul play in the man’s death.

Some workers told the police that the man was beset with personal problems and acted strangely in the past few days.

Police also found a text message in the man’s cellphone expressing how he had been missing his family.

“Teya pakisabi kay mama mga kapatid ko mahal ko kayung lahat patina sila lola I miss you, pag amping mo palagi ha (Auntie, please tell mama and my siblings that I love them all including grandma. I miss you, take care always),” read the text message.
