TYPICAL IU! Singer-actress backs women, children's charities to celebrate 28th birthday

IU endeared herself to the heart of her fans even more when she donated 500 million won to different charities to celebrate her 28th birthday.

IU, who has established herself as one of the most successful Kpop solo acts in the world, made the donation to charities like Korea Pediatric Cancer Foundation, Korean Unwed Mothers' Families Association, Center for Total Care to Elderly Living Alone, The Purme Foundation, and The Children's Welfare Association. She also made a donation to Yeoldol, an organization which supports children with rare diseases.

According to her label EDAM Entertainment, the singer and actress wanted to do something to give back for all the love and support she received from her fans throughout her career.

Fans were not surprised about this generous act from well-beloved idol.

“Typical IU,” one fan commented in a thread.

Another applauded her donation which counts as a pretty penny at USD $441,000.

IU recently released her comeback album LILAC, which brought her total music show wins to 85, earning her the record of being the Korean soloist with the most music show victories.

After topbilling hit dramas like” The Producers”, “Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo”, “Persona”, and “Hotel del Luna”, she is set to return to the big screen this year through the movie “Dream” with Park Seo Joon and Lee Hyun Woo.
