K-pop idol group NCT Dream’s new album “Hot Sauce” has sold more than one million copies in the first week of release, ranking fifth in the initial sales rankings of all time.
According to Korea’s Hanteo Chart, “Hot Sauce” racked up 1,010,766 copies in sales in the first week from May 10 to 16, now their No. 1 best-selling album since debut.
This is higher by 598,308 copies compared to 412,458 copies sold in the first week by their album “Reload,” which was released last year.

Hanteo Chart stated that NCT Dream became the third artist to become a million seller in the first week of release after BTS and Seventeen. NCT Dream also placed fifth in the first-week sales rankings of all time.
An online post on Naver indicated that BTS’ “Map of the Soul: 7” ranked first with 3.37 million copies sold in the first week followed by BTS’ “BE,” 2.27 million; BTS’ “Map of the Soul: Persona,” 2.13 million; Seventeen's “Heng:garae,” 1.09 million; and NCT Dream’s “Hot Sauce,” 1.01 million.
NCT Dream also became the youngest group to become a million seller with an average age of 20.63 years old, Hanteo Chart added.
Hanteo Chart said it will issue a 1 Million Initial Chodong sales certificate to NCT Dream for their feat.
Before its release, “Hot Sauce” had garnered 1,716,571 copies in pre-orders as of May 9, according to SM Entertainment, NCT Dream’s agency.
In addition, “Hot Sauce” also ranked No. 1 in 37 countries and regions on iTunes’ Top Albums chart including the Philippines, US, Canada, Chile, Australia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, Japan, Qatar and Mexico.
On China’s QQ Music, the album has sold 93,286 copies and according to SM Entertainment, it received platinum album certification for achieving sales of 1 million yuan ($155,000).
