Anti-cybercrime operatives of the Philippine National Police (PNP) have arrested a 39-year old man who allegedly tried to force his ex-girlfriend to meet him again and give her money in exchange for not uploading their intimate videos in the social media.
Suspect Chadlie Bual was collared after receiving the P21,000 marked money from the victim, a 21-year old college student, in an entrapment in the town proper of Hinunangan, Southern Leyte on Saturday, May 15.
Based on the complaint of the victim, Bual allegedly threatened her that he would upload their intimate photos and videos to her friends and in social media if she will not agree to have sex with him.
PNP chief Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar said that the suspect also asked P21,000 from the victim.
Bual is now facing criminal charges for violation of R.A. 9995 also known as Anti Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009, R.A. 9262 (VAWC) in relation section 6 of R.A. 10175, violation of Art. 294 (robbery extortion) of RPC in relation to Section 6 of RA10175, and Art. 282 of RPC (grave threat) in relation to RA10175.
He was turned over to Hinundayan MPS for temporary custody and preparation of appropriate charges to be filed.
"In partnership with our cyber communities/group nationwide and globally, the PNP Anti-Cyber Crime Group, as the prime mover in investigating cyber crimes, will intensify its measures in dealing online frauds and extortion", Eleazar said.
