American rapper Pitbull pulls out of 69th Miss Universe show

Puerto Rican artist Luis Fonsi will replace American rapper Pitbull as guest performer at 69th Miss Universe Competition in Hollywood, Florida on May 16.


The Miss Universe Organization made the announcement hours before the preliminary competition started on May 14.


“You heard it here first! @luisfonsi joins the broadcast of #MISSUNIVERSE this Sunday night at 8 pm ET broadcast live around the world," the Miss Universe Organization write on social media.

Pitbull did not say why he backed out the of the show, although he's happy for Fonsi.


“Wish I could be there! It's going to be an incredible night with Luis Fonsi performing. Good luck to Fonsi and all the Miss Universe contestants. Go ahead!" wrote Pitbull on social media.

Fonsi said that he's grateful for the opportunity to perform in the most prestigious beauty pageant. "See you at Miss Universe this Sunday."

Fonsi, 43, is one of the singers behind the blockbuster song "Despacito" in 2017.
