Winners at 57th Baeksang Arts Awards

“Beyond Evil” (aka “Monster”) won best drama while “Samjin Company English Class” was chosen best film at the 57th Baeksang Arts Awards held on May 13 to honor outstanding works in TV, film and theater. 

Popular host and entertainer Yoo Jae-suk and film director Lee Joon-hik, who helmed “The Book of Fish,” won the daesang, or grand prizes, for TV and film, respectively. 

In the TV category, the best actor award went to Shin Ha-kyun of the drama “Beyond Evil,” beating fan favorites Song Joong-ki of “Vincenzo” and Kim Soo-hyun of “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay,” Lee Joon-gi of “Flower of Evil” and Uhm Ki Joon of “The Penthouse.”

Kim So-yeon won best actress for “The Penthouse,” edging out Seo Ye-ji of “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay,” Shin Hye-sun of “Mr. Queen,” Kim So-hyun of “River Where the Moon Rises” and Uhm Ji-won of “Birthcare Center.”

In the best supporting actor category, Oh Jung-se of “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay” emerged as the winner over Kim Seon-ho of “Start-Up,” Lee Hee-joon of “Mouse,” Choi Dae-hoon of “Beyond Evil” and Kim Ji-hoon of “Flower of Evil.” 

Yeom Hye-ran of “The Uncanny Counter” took home the best supporting actress trophy, beating Cha Chung-hwa of “Mr. Queen,” Shin Eun-kyung of “The Penthouse,” Park Ha-sun of “Birthcare Center” and Jang Young-nam of “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay.”

Lee Do-hyun of “18 Again” bagged the best new actor award, defeating Na In-woo of “River Where the Moon Rises,” Song Kang of “Sweet Home,” Kim Young-dae of “The Penthouse” and Nam Yoon-su of “Extracurricular.” 

Park Ju-hyun of “Extracurricular” won best new actress over Lee Joo-young of “Times,” Kim Hyun-soo of “The Penthouse,” Park Gyu-young of “Sweet Home” and Choi Sung-eun of “Beyond Evil.” 

Kim Seon-ho accepted the TikTok Popularity Award, which was voted for by fans. He won the award with 1.3 million votes. Seo Ye-ji, who won the popularity award in the female category, did not attend the ceremony.
