Sandara Park, aka Dara, former member of the K-pop group 2NE1, has parted ways with YG Entertainment, her agency for 17 years.

YG Entertainment announced Friday that the exclusive contract with Dara has ended.

“This is to inform you that the exclusive contract between YG Entertainment and Sandara Park has expired. We sincerely thank Sandara Park who has been with YG Entertainment for 17 years with special trust and affection,” the agency said.

It added, “YG will always support Sandara Park in her challenge and will continue to help her until she is ready for a fresh start.”

YG Entertainment recalled that Dara’s relationship with the agency began in 2004 after which she debuted in 2NE1 in 2009. It said she has been performing well in acting, fashion, beauty, emceeing and music.

Dara, who spent many years in the Philippines, launched her showbiz career here after she won second place in the TV talent competition “Star Circle Quest” in 2004. She left her career in the Philippines and debuted in 2NE1.

She, 36, is the last member of 2NE1 to leave YG Entertainment. In May 2016, 2NE1 member Minzy left YG Entertainment after her contract expired.

On Nov. 25, 2016, the agency announced the disbandment of 2NE1 after seven years in the business following a discussion with the members.

Dar and CL signed solo contracts with the agency except Park Bom. CL left YG Entertainment in November 2019.

On Twitter, the terms “Dara” and “2ne1” trended after the news of Dara’s departure from YG Entertainment came out.
