A magnitude 3.3 earthquake struck parts of Leyte on Thursday morning, May 13, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
In an advisory, Phivolcs said the quake took place 8 kilometers (km) northwest of Capoocan, Leyte at 11:34 a.m.
The agency said the quake is tectonic in origin and has a depth of focus of 7 km.
Phivolcs said Intensity III or “weak shaking” was felt in Capoocan, Carigara, and Leyte, Leyte; while Intensity II was observed in Barugo, Kananga, and Tabango, Leyte.
On the other hand, an Instrumental Intensity II was recorded in Carigara, Leyte.
Phivolcs has initially measured the quake at magnitude 3.
No damage or aftershock expected following the tremor, it added.
