The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will never whitewash the wrongful acts of its traffic personnel.

The agency's EDSA traffic czar, Edison "Bong" Nebrija gave this guarantee to his followers on Facebook Monday, May 10, even as he pleaded to the public for a "chance to clean their ranks".

"Give us a chance to clean our ranks of scalawags. We are covered by the civil service code as such we adhere to due process from investigation to termination, no short cuts," he wrote in a post.

Case in point of this "due process" is the dismissal of two MMDA traffic enforcers for extortion raps, a separate post of which was shared by Nebrija.

The two personnel, Edmon Belleca and Christian Malemit, were sacked after only a two-week investigation. The duo, who was the subject of a viral video late last month, was found guilty of grave misconduct.

The agency's top traffic disciplinarian then gave some useful tips that would help hasten the adjudication process against mulcting enforcers.

"Please kapag kayo kinotongan (if you become victims of extortion) get the names because that will speed up the investigation. If you could get video please do. Huwag kayong matakot (Don't be afraid) we will never cover up any wrongdoings of our personnel," he said.
