Five families to represent PH in praying the Holy Rosary from Antipolo Cathedral

Five families who are devotees of the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage will represent the entire country in praying the Holy Rosary at the Antipolo Cathedral in Antipolo City at 6 p.m. today, May 7.

In an interview with Manila Bulletin, Fr. Reynante Tolentino, shrine rector of the Antipolo Cathedral, said for each decade of the Holy Rosary, one family will lead in the praying of the Hail Mary.

The five families who will join the rosary prayer are all devotees of Antipolo’s patroness, also known as the Nuestra Senora Dela Paz Y Buenviaje.

Couple Louie and Marisa Francisco from Marikina  City , one of the five families chosen to lead in praying the Holy Rosary at the cathedral, said they could not express their feelings when they were chosen to represent the country in the historic religious event that was initiated by Pope Francis.

The Marian shrine in Antipolo City, the first national shrine established in South East Asia, is among the 30 shrines worldwide to lead in Vatican-initiated  marathon prayer.

Antipolo Bishop Francisco de Leon will lead in praying the Holy Rosary, which will be beamed live at 12 midnight (Philippine time) or 6 p.m. (Vatican time) on May 7.

The shrine started the day with the lighting of the candle at 8 a.m. with the reading of the Gospel. After the Holy Rosary, the shrine will hold a farewell greeting to Mother Mary to be led by Fr. Tolentino at 7 p.m.
