San Juan City’s number of active cases has gone down by more than 50 percent under the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ).

In an interview with CNN Philippines on Monday, Mayor Francis Zamora said San Juan’s active cases as of May 2 was at 668, which is more than half of the city’s highest number last April 14 at 1,226.
“We are seeing a steady decline. In fact, we are optimistic that the number of active cases will go down even further,” Zamora said.
Asked if there is a possibility for Metro Manila to ease quarantine restrictions after the two-week implementation of MECQ flex, the mayor said: “It all depends on the number that we will see, so we all just have to make decisions based on statistics.”
Zamora said the city is preparing for the re-opening of businesses such as indoor dining, beauty salons, parlors, barbershops, and nail spas.
Zamora said the city’s business permits and licensing office together with the Task Force Disiplina will roam around malls and commercial establishments to “monitor compliance of the new guidelines for the MECQ flex.”
