To show support, a group of bikers has organized a meet-up and ride along Baywalk in Roxas Boulevard, Manila for Vice President Leni Robredo.
The event was posted on a Facebook group called “LENI ROBREDO” (Ang Pag-asa ng mga Pilipino), which has over 40,000 members as of posting time.
More than a hundred bikers showed support on Sunday, May 2, for the vice president, all of them wearing a shirt with the words “Bikers 4 Leni” on them. At the back, the shirt read “Si Leni lang Malakas (Only Leni is strong)” with a certain code to determine the number of riders who joined the activity.
A Facebook user, identified as Neder Nat Nob, posted about the activity on the Facebook group’s page.
He said: “Sunday meet up for Madam VP Leni Gerona Robredo #bikersforleni #silenilangmalakas #baywalk.” The vice president was tagged on the post, which has more than 700 reactions and 138 comments.
Another photo showed the group along Kalaw Avenue in Manila. All of them were wearing face masks and helmets.
There has been a clamor for Robredo to run as president in next year’s polls. In the past, there were several activities that aimed to urge her to become the opposition’s standard-bearer in 2022.
She, however, remained mum about her political plans, only saying that she isn’t closing her doors to local or national politics. There were reports that Robredo plans to run as governor of her home province of Camarines Sur.
