Teen shot dead at home in Negros Occidental

BACOLOD CITY – An 18-year-old boy was gunned down inside their house in Barangay Mailum, Bago City, Negros Occidental last Friday, April 30.

The victim was identified as Cyrus Mariano.

Police Lt. Col. John Joel Batusbatusan, Bago City police chief, said the victim was sleeping alone when two unidentified men shot him at close range and fled. 

Mariano succumbed to two bullet wounds in the head and another in his chest.

Police recovered from the scene three fired cartridge cases and a fired 9 mm bullet.

Batusbatusan said there were witnesses who saw the incident but failed to identify the perpetrators.

He said the victim had previous records at the barangay when he was a minor for alleged theft and threat.

Police are looking into this angle as possible motive behind the killing.
