On Day 1, technical glitch mars National ID online registration
The first day of the online registration for the national identification (ID) system faced technical glitches on Friday, April 30.
"We are currently experiencing technical difficulties. Our technical team is currently figuring out the source of the problem," the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said in an advisory.
"We will provide updates as soon as the website is up and running. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused," it added.

President Duterte signed Republic Act 11055 or the Philippine Identification System Act in August 2018.
It aims to establish a single national ID for all Filipinos and resident aliens. It also consolidates government-issued IDs but will not automatically replace existing ones.
The ID aims to boost the delivery of public service, enhance administrative governance, reduce corruption, curtail red tape, and promote ease of doing business, among others.
Information obtained from the holder includes age, gender, date, and place of birth, address, mobile number, email address, marital status, blood type, and residency status in the country.
