Sandra Cam, an official of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) who was charged and later ordered arrested for the killing of a local official of Masbate, is now under police custody, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) said on Thursday, April 29.
But CIDG director Maj. Gen. Albert Ignatius Ferro said that Cam is currently inside a hospital because of medical concerns.
"She already surrendered at the Region 4A. She has medical concern so she could not easily be taken so it was there (hospital) that we served the (arrest warrant) pending her medical condition," said Ferro.
Ferro said Cam surrendered by asking her one of her security escorts to call up the nearest CIDG unit and reveal her location.
On Monday, April 26, a Manila City Trial Court issued an arrest warrant against Cam and her son Marco Martin for the killing of Batuan, Masbate Vice Mayor Charlie Yuson in 2019.
The vice mayor was gunned down in Manila while having breakfast with two others in Sampaloc, Manila on October 9, 2019. HIs wife accused Cam as behind the attack.
Cam's son Marco Martin lost to Yuson during the 2019 local elections.
In a message posted on her Facebook account, Sandra Cam Lingkod Bayan, Cam insisted her innocence and said she is ready to face the charges.
Aside from Cam and her son, also ordered arrested were current Batuan Vice Mayor Nelson Cambaya, Junel Gomez, Bradford Solis, Juanito de Luna and Rigor dela Cruz.
