Korean actor Shin Sung-rok, who played the villain Jae-kyung in the 2013 hit drama “My Love from the Star” and star of the 2020 drama “Kairos,” tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

His agency, HB Entertainment, confirmed that Shin Sung-rok tested positive for COVID-19 on April 28. His first test, which came out on April 24, showed he was negative for the virus but he was not feeling well the next day during his self-isolation and was retested, which came out positive.

Shin Sung-rok, JYJ’s Kim Junsu, and husband and wife Son Jun-ho and musical actress Kim So-hyun were guests on April 21 on the web show “Naver NOW Serizabeth” hosted by Korean golf legend Park Se-ri. They were there to promote their musical “Dracula,” which will start its run on May 18.

Son Jun-ho tested positive for COVID-19 on April 23 and Kim Junsu, Shin Sung-rok and Kim So-hyun underwent tests so was Jeon Dong-suk, another star of the musical, and they were found to be negative for the virus.

After retests, Shin Sung-rok and Jeon Dong-suk tested positive while Kim Junsu tested negative. All are under self-isolation for two weeks in compliance with government guidelines.

Jeon Dong-suk’s agency, Big Boss Entertainment, confirmed on April 28 that the musical actor retested positive. He was informed on April 23 that he was a close contact of a confirmed COVID-19 positive person, supposedly Son Jun-ho, and was tested, which came out negative.

However, during self-isolation, he was not feeling well and underwent a second test, which came out to be positive for the virus.

Park Se-ri’s test came out positive on April 24 after she got in contact with Son Jun-ho.

In addition to “Dracula,” Shin Sung-rok is also a regular cast member of the Korean TV variety show “Master in the House” along with Lee Seung-gi, Cha Eun-woo of K-pop boy band ASTRO, Yang Se-hyung and Kim Dong-hyun.

A representative from “Master in the House” said Shin Sung-rok was in close contact with a confirmed COVID-19 positive person after filming the variety show.

As a result, Lee Seung-gi, Cha Eun-woo, Yang Se-hyung and Kim Dong-hyun will proceed with the next filming on May 3 and 4 as scheduled but without Shin Sung-rok.

Last April 24, Hyun-wook and O.V, members of K-pop boy band D-Crunch, tested positive for COVID-19. Korean comedian and entertainer Kwon Hyuk-soo, best known for appearing on “Saturday Night Live Korea,” also tested positive for the virus.

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) recorded 775 new COVID-19 cases on April 28 to bring the total confirmed cases to 120,673.
