“Our prayers were answered,” Locsin said in a tweet.

The former President thanked all those who wished him well and prayed for his speedy recovery in a 27-second video clip posted on social media by his son, former Senator Jinggoy Estrada.

Locsin said the discharge of the 84-year-old former President from the hospital is a “very welcome development”. Locsin served as speechwriter to Estrada when the latter won the presidency in 1998.

Estrada was hospitalized on March 28, 2021, after testing positive for COVID-19.

He was initially moved out of the ICU on April 14 but has to be brought back on April 16 due to a bacterial lung infection.

Estrada served as Manila mayor from 2013 to 2016.
