Korean actor Lee Kwang-soo will be leaving the popular Sunday TV variety show “Running Man” due to health reasons.

The 35-year-old star is one of the original cast members of “Running Man” when it premiered in July 2010.

On Feb. 15, 2020, Lee Kwang-soo had a car accident that injured his ankle.

His agency, King Kong by Starship, released a statement to say that he will be leaving the show after his last taping on May 24.

“Lee Kwang-soo was in constant rehabilitation due to injuries caused by the accident last year, but there were times that it was difficult to maintain his best condition when filming,” the agency said.

It added, “After a long discussion with the members, the production team and the agency after the accident, he decided that he needs time to reorganize his mind and body.”

The agency said it was not easy for Lee Kwang-soo to decide to leave “Running Man” as it has lasted for 11 years but said he needs to do it to show a better image in the future.

Lee Kwang-soo is one of the most popular cast members of “Running Man” especially among international fans.

After the news came out, the topics “kwangsoo” and “Running Man” trended on Twitter.
