An Asian American family of 18 from Wisconsin were targeted in an attempted robbery in Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco on Monday.

Patrick Elliott and 17 other family members, who are all from the Philippines, were on a California road trip when they made their last stop in San Francisco, according to a report by ABC7 News.
The family went to see the sea lions at Pier 39 and parked in the area of Powell and the Embarcadero when one family member was approached by three men.
In the video obtained by ABC7, an armed 22-year-old man named Carlos Claros and two unnamed suspects attempted to take their cell phones. The incident happened in front of the family which includes children as young as six years old.
"If my family member or anyone within my family got hit, it would just be catastrophic," Elliott told ABC7 via Zoom. "You fear for your own life, you fear for your safety."
Elliot recalled how the suspect told another family member, "Ugh, you Asians" and spit in her direction.
He added that not one of the witnesses attempted to help him and his family during the incident.
"Nobody came over, nobody helped... Just to yell out would go a tremendously long way. It's embarrassing to our society that nobody will help anymore," Elliot said.
Claros was arrested for a number of charges including six counts of four felonies and two misdemeanors.
It was also found out that the suspect has a previous criminal record including drug possession and possession of a stolen vehicle last year, ABC7 reported.
He was also involved in strong-armed robberies in 2019 spanning multiple neighborhoods and was on probation during the Fisherman's Wharf incident.
