The Department of Education (DepEd) commended the community pantry organized by students along with other youth volunteers in Bayambang National High School (BNHSS) in Pangasinan.
DepEd, in a Facebook post on Tuesday, April 27, praised the efforts of the students and other volunteers in coming up with their own version of community pantry that would cater to the needs of the people in their community.

“Tunay kayong halimbawa na bagama't kabataan pa man kung ituring, kayang-kayang lumikha ng hakbanging mapagbago! (You are a true example that even though you are still young, you can create a change!), DepEd added.
DepEd said that the “Bayambang Community Pantry” was made possible with the cooperation and coordination of Bayambang National High School - Supreme Student Government (BNHS-SSG) and other youth volunteers in Pangasinan.
The “Bayambang Community Pantry,” DepEd said, formally started on April 22.
“Tuloy pa rin ang operasyon at pamamahagi ng Bayambang Community Pantry sa mga residente (The Bayambang Community Pantry continues to operate and distribute goods to residents),” DepEd said.
In a separate post, BNHS-SSG - along with other youth volunteers - expressed their gratitude to those who gave donations for their community pantry.

The BNHS-SSG said that it is also looking for additional volunteers, preferably 18 years old and above, to help in organizing the items to distributed in the coming days.
For those who cannot physically volunteer but would like to extend assistance, the group said that in-kind donations of basic commodities such as eggs, instant noodles, canned goods, rices, bottled water, fruits and vegetables, condiments, and other other items like diaper, sanitary napkins, toothpaste, and face masks are welcome. These can be dropped off at the Saint Vincent’s Catholic School of Bayambang, Inc.
“Iba po talaga ang nagagawa kapag ang buong masa ay nagtutulungan kahit sa gitna pa man ng pandemya! (What a difference it makes when the whole masses work together even in the midst of a pandemic!),” the group said.
The group also express gratitude to those who continue to extend their “help to the best of their ability” by supporting the the initiative which is “from the people for the people.”
