Lipa Archbishop Gilbert Garcera has recovered from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Fr. Jazz Siapco of the archdiocese’s social action ministry said that Garcera has already tested negative from COVID-19 but he still needs to rest for his continued recovery.
“The archbishop can’t receive visitors yet because he still needs to rest... But he is already COVID-free. Thank God!” CBCP News quoted Siapco.
It was on March 21 when Garcera announced that he was infected with COVID-19, making him the tenth Filipino prelate to contract the disease.
Sunday marked the first time that Garcera appeared in public, albeit online, during a private Mass for the Feast of the Good Shepherd from his residence.
In the last two months, three more prelates— Archbishop Jose Palma and Bishop Emeritus Antonio Rañola of Cebu, and Archbishop Florentino Lavarias of San Fernando— had been infected with COVID-19 but they all have recovered.
