Sara Duterte, Isko Moreno lead possible 2022 presidential, vice presidential bets - Pulse Asia


Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte topped the list of probable frontrunners in the upcoming 2022 presidential elections, based on the latest Pulse Asia survey released Thursday, April 22.

The nationwide survey, which was conducted from February 22 to March 3, showed that the presidential daughter emerged as the possible top contender for the May 2022 presidential poll.

“If the May 2022 elections were held during the survey period, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte would be declared as the winner in the presidential race with a national voter preference of 27 percent,” Pulse Asia said.

The survey results showed Duterte was the clear preferred presidential bet of respondents in Mindanao (60 percent), while results are mixed in Visayas (21 percent), Luzon (17 percent), and in National Capital Region (12 percent).

Other possible presidential bets preferred were former senator Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. (13 percent), Senator Grace Poe and Manila Mayor Francisco Domagoso (12 percent), as well as Senator Emmanuel Pacquiao (11 percent).

In Metro Manila, the leading candidates are Domagoso (24 percent) and Marcos (18 percent), while those in the rest of Luzon are favored to vote for Marcos (19 percent), Duterte (17 percent), Poe (15 percent), or Domagoso (13 percent). 

In the Visayas, Duterte received the most support (21 percent), followed by Pacquiao (15 percent), and Poe (14 percent).

Also included in the list of personalities who register presidential voter preferences are Vice President Leni Robredo (7 percent), Senator Christopher Go (5 percent), former vice president Jejomar Binay (3 percent), Senator Panfilo Lacson (2 percent), and Taguig City-Pateros 1st District Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano (2 percent).

For the position of vice president, the survey results showed a close race between three possible candidates.

“Out of 12 possible candidates for vice-president in the May 2022 elections, Manila Mayor Domagoso (16 percent), Senator Pacquiao (15m percent), and Davao City Mayor Duterte (15 percent) are statistically tied for the top spot as of February 2021,” the pollster said.

Landing in second place are Senate President Vicente Sotto III (11 percent), Marcos (11 percent), Go (9 percent), Cayetano (7 percent), and Sorsogon Governor Francis Escudero (7 percent).

The nationwide survey used face-to-face interview, and is based on a sample of 2,400 adult respondents.
