Vice President Leni Robredo seemed to have lost her cool on Thursday, April 22, as fake news spread on social media alleging that an earlier Facebook post by one of her staff was dramatized for propaganda.

“Naiintindihan namin na may mga taong hindi pa naka witness ng pagseserbisyong walang hinihinging kapalit kaya nahihirapan maniwala sa trabahong ginagawa ng iba. Pero wag naman sana magsinungaling sa panahon na ang daming namamatay (We understand that there are people who have not witnessed true service that does not ask anything in exchange, which is why they find it hard to believe the work that others do. But let’s not lie at a time when so many are dying),” she posted on her personal Facebook account.

The soft-spoken, even-tempered lady official sternly backed her staff, who she said has sacrificed a lot for public service.

“Hindi ko din papayagan na matawaran ang sakripisyo ng mga staff namin sa OVP na walang pahinga mula pa nung nakaraang taon para lamang mapunuan namin ang mga pagkukulang (I will also not allow anyone to malign the sacrifices of our staff at the OVP who have not rested since last year just to fill in the gaps of many shortcomings),” Robredo added.

The vice president was referring to a post by Du30 Resbakers on Facebook that said the earlier post of Jill Campo-Javiniar, the head of the Office of the Vice President’s (OVP) Angat Buhay program, about their emergency medical technician (EMT) was merely propaganda.

The post said that the photo of two persons in hazmat suit has good angle, lighting, dramatic write-up, and filters because they actually brought drones with them.

It alleged that the photo was taken by a drone camera and not by the daughter of the COVID-19 positive patient who the EMT was on their way to help.

The vice president called the malicious allegation “ridiculous,” but said she still wants to “correct it.”

She shared that the husband of the COVID-19 patient called them on Wednesday to say that she was having difficulty in breathing and that their oxygen tank was almost empty.

“We sent our ambulance with these 2 EMTs in the pic to bring an extra oxygen tank for his wife. Our team was in constant touch with the daughter of the patient. When she saw our 2 EMTs from the window of their 2nd floor room, she sent us these two pictures and we were already able to heave a sigh of relief,” Robredo said.

In the exchange, the daughter of the patient reported that her father already replaced her mother’s oxygen tank with the one the EMT brought. She then thanked the OVP for their help.

This is not the first time that Robredo’s bashers tried to demean her programs.

They have repeatedly made fun of the “anemic spaghetti” someone donated to the OVP to feed a community in this time of pandemic.

Supporters of the Duterte administration even belittle her Swab Cab and Bayanihan E-Konsulta programs, saying these are the work of a social welfare secretary and not of a presidentiable.
