MMC to meet next week on new quarantine classification


Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez said on Thursday, April 22, that Metro Manila mayors will convene next week to decide on the new quarantine classification for the National Capital Region (NCR) in May.

"So, magpupulong po kami ng ating Metro Manila Council (MMC) three to four days before ng April 30 (The MMC will meet three to four days before April 30)," Olivarez, who chairs the MMC, said.

He added that they will be summarizing all the data from the Department of Health (DOH) in NCR before they make a recommendation to the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID.

The OCTA Research Team bared on Wednesday, April 21, that the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) reproduction number in the National Capital Region (NCR) has gone down to 1.01 from 1.90.

OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David emphasized the importance of considering the primary transmission mode of the virus in easing quarantine restrictions.

Metro Manila is currently under the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ). Its full effect, according to Guido, will be determined by the end of April.
