DSWD extends more than P191.5-M aid to over 19K individuals in crisis situations

Over 19,000 distressed individuals have received financial assistance under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS), the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said Thursday night, April 22.

The DSWD said it has distributed more than P191.5-million AICS aid to 19,168 clients from March 29 to April 18.

The bulk of the total aid disbursed under AICS was given to clients in the National Capital Region (NCR), receiving more than P146 million.

"More than P26.6 million was disbursed to clients in Region IV-A, and more than P18.6 million was given to AICS beneficiaries in Region III,” it said in a statement on Monday night.

The DSWD assured the public that it continued implementing its regular social welfare services such as AICS.

The program provides medical, educational, burial, and transportation assistance to support the recovery of individuals and families suffering from unexpected life event or crisis, it said.

In a meeting with President Duterte on April 12, DSWD Secretary Rolando Joselito D. Bautista reported that the DSWD has distributed P47.2 million worth of financial assistance to 7,351 AICS clients from March 29 to April 12.
