KAWIT, Cavite - The municipal government here has announced that it will shoulder the tricycle franchise renewal fees to help alleviate the effects of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic on drivers and operators.

Mayor Angelo G. Aguinaldo met with Tricycle Operators and Drivers' Association (TODA) presidents on Tuesday (April 20) to discuss the assistance being offered by the local government unit (LGU).
In a Facebook post, Aguinaldo said tricycle drivers are among those who suffered the most amid the pandemic due to limited operations and passenger capacity since last year.
The LGU has yet to answer residents' queries on Facebook about whether it will reimburse the fees of those who have already renewed their franchise.
