Smart launches 5G roaming in Singapore

Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) teamed up with telco operator StarHub to launch 5G roaming in Singapore, its tenth partner-country for the service.

Earlier, the telco activated its 5G roaming in Japan, with NTT Docomo; in Australia, with Vodafone; in China, with China Mobile; in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia with Zain.

It has full 5G roaming coverage in United Arab Emirates with Etisalat and du; in Taiwan, with FarEasTone; and in South Korea, with KT Corp.

StarHub is a leading homegrown company in Singapore, delivering world-class communications, entertainment and digital solutions.

Both StarHub and Smart are members of the CONEXUS Mobile Alliance, composed of nine Asian telcos.

Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, Smart and CONEXUS have carried on laying down roaming service improvements for international travelers.

Smart prepaid and postpaid customers in Singapore can enjoy 5G data roaming speeds using their Smart 5G-capable SIM and 5G device.

Customers can subscribe to Smart’s GigaRoam plans for P999 for 5 days by visiting roam.smart.com.ph while they are abroad, or by downloading the GigaLife app.

The app also helps customers manage their postpaid subscription or subscribe to prepaid promos.

“Our partnership with StarHub brings us one step closer to providing an unparalleled 5G roaming experience for Smart customers in Singapore,” remarked Alice Ramos, Vice President and Head of Roaming and Consumer Business at Smart.
