Nearly 2K medical technologists, medical laboratory technicians take oath virtually

Nearly 2,000 medical technologists and medical laboratory technicians took their oath online on Monday, April 19.

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC)- National Capital Region (NCR) said 1,957 medical technologists and medical laboratory technicians took oath via virtual platform.

PRC said Marilyn A. Cabal-Barza, chairperson of the Professional Regulatory Board of Medical Technology (PRBoMT), led the Recital of the Professional’s Oath, while Marian M. Tantingco, Member, PRBoMT, led the Recitation of the Code of Ethics.

In his message, PRC Chairman Teofilo S. Pilando Jr. said “70 percent of today’s medical decisions depend on laboratory test results, does proving the pivotal role of clinical laboratories in today’s healthcare system.”

In his closing remarks, PRC-NCR Director L. Louis Valera reminded the new professionals that “professionalism, excellence, and compassion should always be your beacon and measure”.

The virtual oath-taking was spearheaded by the PRC NCR and joined by PRC Lucena, PRC Baguio, PRC Davao, PRC General Santos, PRC Legazpi, PRC Iloilo, PRC Cagayan De Oro, PRC Tuguegarao, PRC Pagadian, PRC San Fernando, Pampanga, and PRC Cebu, via Zoom.
